Best Fluoride Water Filter Reviews

1. Home Master TMAFC-ERP Fluoride Water Filtration System

Home Master TMAFC-ERP

Highlighted Features

  • This multi-stage filter and RO (Reverse Osmosis) combination system removes common tap water contaminants like fluoride and lead while leaving valuable minerals like magnesium.
  • Typical RO systems require water to be discharged that was removed during the reverse osmosis process, while the Home Master still requires this, it is far less wastewater than competitors.
  • The 4 stages of filtering all target a unique contaminant group, and they each last for up to 2,000 gallons of water, or up to 2 years with normal usage.

The Home Master series of Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems is one of the most popular choices in the fight against surplus fluoride. It is extremely common for city and municipal water supplies to add fluoride to their water, but it is almost always too much! A small, moderate amount of fluoride is fine, but when there is too much, it can cause bad tastes and odors in the water. The Home Master does a great job of removing lead and other commonly found contaminants while leaving trace amounts of calcium and other valuable minerals.

The entire system is small and compact, which makes fitting into tight spaces simple. The RO tank does not take up a lot of room and is solidly constructed. The multiple filters fit into their housing extremely easily and are a breeze to add and remove. There is no wrenches or tools required, and with the long-lasting filter life, you will rarely have to worry about that, to begin with.

You will notice right off the bat that your water clarity, odor, and taste will be greatly improved after installation. Thanks to the combination of Reverse Osmosis and 4 targeting filters, your water will be among the best you can find from a RO system.

What We Like:

  • The installation guide and online technical support from Home Master are top-notch. They have a bevy of guides and instructional videos available to help with a DIY installation.
  • We really like the finished chrome faucet that is included with this package. It has a solid flow rate, looks clean, and is easy to install.
  • The amount of water discharge from this RO system is significantly less than comparable RO systems. Wasting water is never fun, but this system makes it more tolerable.

What We Didn’t Like:

  • While the system is regenerating, there is a 10-15 second span where it is quite loud.

What You Should Consider When Buying a Fluoride Water Filter

With fluoride becoming more and more present in water supplies across the country, finding the perfect water filter for fluoride is important. As you can see from our top-10 reviews, there are a ton of different options.

We have different filtering types like under-sink faucet connections, sink-top filters, gravity water filters, and water filtering pitchers. It may seem like a lot to mull over because there are so many options, but our buying guide is here to help.

There are several different situations that you need to address to decide which is the best water filter for fluoride removal for you. In this guide, we will discuss these things and hopefully help you make the best decision for you.

Water Filter Style

As you’ve been made aware, there are a ton of styles of filters. To help you select the best filter for fluoride removal, we need to figure out exactly which type first.

Under Sink Filtration Systems

One of the most common filtration types is under sink water hose connections. These are typically very easy to install for most homeowners and can provide you with numerous health benefits thanks to cleaner water. There are a few different aspects of under sink systems that are beneficial and why they make such a good and simple option for fluoride removal.

Some people prefer to have filtered water coming directly from my faucet. This way, they can use the water for cooking, cleaning, and drinking with no worries about the quality of the water. There are other under-sink filters that come with a dedicated water tap system that you install next to your current kitchen faucet.

One is not necessarily better than the other; you just need to decide what is best for you. You do need to remember, some under sink filtering systems are reverse osmosis systems, which means they come with a tank and a filtering component. Ensure you have enough space there for the system you want.

Sink-Top Water Filtration Systems

One of the simplest designs we have looked at, the sink-top system is an affordable and effective option. It connects to your water link below your sink but has a dedicated tap and filter that both sit on top of the sink.

You will get a dedicated filtered water line for all your water needs. The filters and cartridges are typically very small and are barely noticeable. Still, you need to make sure you look at the size of these filters before installing them. If you have a two-tiered countertop or are short on space, make sure you can fit this sink-top unit on your counter.

One of the reasons that these are so popular is because they are affordable. While they have a single filter and others have up to 5, the single filters are designed to target a specific contaminant group like fluoride.

Gravity Water Filters

A very mobile option is gravity water filters. These are very popular because they do not require any installation (other than popping in the filter), and they solely rely on gravity to filter out the water.

These are designed to be placed onto your countertop at home or even your desk at the office. They are typically only a few pounds meaning you can bring it with you anywhere and have clean water at your fingertips. This is arguably my favorite feature of gravity water filters. They are so simple to carry around you do not have to worry about water hoses are connection fittings.

One thing to remember when considering a gravity water filter is you are limited to the tank size for how much water you have access to. They range from 1 gallon to more than 4 gallons. Consider how many people will be relying on the filter and make sure you will have enough water without the need to constantly refill it.

Water Pitchers

Self-filtering water pitchers are extremely popular among homeowners. They are cheap, convenient and you can bring them anywhere with you. Filter life will depend on how often you use the pitcher, but many of them come with long last filters as well.

When considering a water pitcher for fluoride removal, make sure you will not miss the extra space in your refrigerator. Another factor to consider is the size of the pitcher. There is a wide variety of sizes available, do your best to ensure you choose one that is large enough to accommodate the whole family.

Self-Filtering Water Bottles

Last on our filter type list is the self-filtering water bottle. These are best for people that are on the go and want to bring their clean water with them everywhere they go. These bottles are designed to take water from virtually any source on the planet and make it drinkable and healthy.

They come in a wide variety of sizes and materials. They can be collapsible and squeezable for cleaning and cooking along with a quality drinking source. The sizes range from 12 to 30+ ounces of water.

Remember, self-filtering water bottles do a great job of filtering fluoride and other chemicals, but the filter life is typically less than other types. If you’re looking for fluoride-free water in the mountains or forest, these are great options.

Other Important Factors

In addition to choosing which filtration style suits you best, you also want to look at a few other factors.

Filter Life

I despise having to change my filters too often. It feels like I am wasting money and not getting a lot of it. Luckily, we have several quality options available today. When deciding on your perfect water filter for fluoride removal, check on the filter life and then make sure it will last long enough for your situation. The more water your family uses, the longer filter life you’d prefer.

Other Water Contaminants

Controlling your fluoride levels is extremely important, but make sure you understand what else is in your water. Because fluoride filters typically do well at removing other contaminants, it does not hurt to check which filters will remove fluoride and other contaminants from your water.

Do not ignore chlorine and heavy metals. Try and find the whole package for your house while making sure you knock out fluoride first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it important that we limit our fluoride levels in water?

An overdose of fluoride can cause some health concerns in certain groups of people.

There a lot of different filtering systems, is one better than the other?

Not necessarily. While each filter has different qualities, the best option will be different for everyone. If you want cleaner drinking water, your needs will be better than someone looking for better fluoride levels in the shower.

Do I need a plumber to install my filter?

99% of the time, you will not need any help installing your filtration system. Most of the newer systems are designed to be installed by the homeowner.

We covered just about every type of water filtration system within this review. There is no single best type of filtration system, but based on your individual needs, there is a quality option out there for everybody. It is important to consider not just fluoride but all the elements that are found in your water supply.

Most filters will remove fluoride and several more contaminants, so if you want the best experience, find the one that fits your water the best.
